Mastin Labs Presents: Motherhood & Photography
This Mother’s Day, we want to pay homage to motherhood and photography and thank all the mothers out there who give so much out of pure love. Thank you for everything you do!
One day is not nearly enough time to show our gratitude!
Being a mother is no easy feat, and when you add pursuing your dreams, hobbies, or business ventures on top of that—wow! It’s kind of like being Wonder Woman, and we have so much respect for all of the moms out there who care for their own families while capturing important memories of others (and hopefully capturing a few of their own, too!).
Since we know many of our members are mothers, we reached out to our amazing online photography community to share their motherhood images and tell us what they love most about motherhood and photography.
Here’s what they had to say.
“One thing that I love most about motherhood and photography, is it gives me a great reason to photograph my children often! I am able to document so many beautiful moments and stages of life. They are a huge blessing!” - Artina Becker

“Motherhood is what inspired me to buy my first DSLR…I wanted to capture everything! Before I knew it, it was a new creative outlet and small business. The last few years I’ve been better about trying to get into the frame with them, being comfortable on the other side of the camera has been a bit of a journey. But having these frozen moments in time to look back on is priceless.” - Leah Labourde

“Waking up every morning with a “mummy” and a hug and a kiss from each one of them is all I ever need to live the day with positive purpose and love.” - Briena Mare
“These little people are pure magic. I’ll forever be in pursuit of capturing that magic and freezing it forever in time in a photo!” - Jillian McKenzie

“Motherhood led me to photography, and photography led me to so many beautiful moments that I would have missed otherwise. Forever grateful for my babies and my camera.” - Megan Befort

“Motherhood during a pandemic has been hard, but I’m so thankful that photography has allowed me to capture all of my son’s little moments from his birth until now (he’s almost two). My husband jokes he’s the most photographed child in the world. With a photographer mom, he even smiles on cue now. They say the days are long but the years are short, and I treasure all the beautiful portraits I’ve taken of him as he’s grown, through all of his stages and milestones. I’ve celebrated every single milestone through photography. When he’s older and wants nothing to do with me, I’ll be so happy to have these memories frozen in time. Photography to me is essentially stolen moments caught on camera. What better gift could a mother have than the love of her children, and that love documented for her to enjoy the rest of her life?” - DoanPhuong Nguyen
“Motherhood has inspired me to move from hobbyist photographer to professional. I have been able to see through my lens the special moments otherwise lost forever if not captured. It has inspired me to create art for other moms and capture moments I know they will cherish for a lifetime.” - Ana Pavesi

“My sweet babes are the reason I fell in love with photography in the first place. Capturing the magic of their childhood brings me so much joy and I want to make every family feel the same way.” - Caitlyn Torres

This Mother’s Day, remember to send some love to the amazing mothers in your life, and to make sure they have the chance to be on the other side of the lens with their little ones every now and then. These moments are fleeting and the memories are precious!
