Night & Day Capture One Styles

Works great for concert photography

The night & day styles are my second most used mastin labs presets - just behind the the Fuji original.

I pretty much have all the Mastin Labs film packs, and they all offer useful looks depending on the situation. Yet the Night & Day style (Capture One) filled a gap for my event photography in mixed indoor lighting. Sometimes, skin tones just get wacky, but the Natura style in particular is really good in these situations. I shoot Sony and Nikon DSLR, so I can say for both systems this pack really does it. And for killer black and white, the Tmax 3200 look is simply amazing. The film grain is especially outstanding, as are the tones. One of the best film packs of the pack!

I know Mastin sells this as a quick three-step process, but by far my favorite thing about these presets is how it's possible to get in there and make adjustments with the curves and color editor tools, so if say, the tints in the highlights are too much, you can get in there and dial it back inside the preset. You can even use the preset as a separate layer and grade under it like a LUT.

Anyway, I've been using a modified Natura 1600 and I absolutely love the look I'm getting. I would love if customizing things were a little easier, say if I could have separate highlight/shadow/mids layers to really dial in how much of the film look I want, but in general, these presets are great, and the Night & Day pack specifically is my favorite.

I am writing pretty much the same review for every pack I have purchased because the sentiment holds true for all of them.

I have tried many “film look” presets in the past and nothing ever consistently worked. My photography was getting to the point where things seemed stale and just going through the motions. The Night & Day pack and many of the other Mastin Lab packs have honestly rekindled my love of photography and editing again!

I'm a concert photographer and Cinestill 800T , is the best preset I have ever tried for concert photos.

I have been using Mastin Styles (Capture One) for several years now. I own almost all of them and switch between depending on my subject. I usually have to do some tweaks to get the colors exactly the way I like especially the skin tones. Natura 1600 is hands down the easiest pack yet. I purchased about a week ago and have done four sessions so far. It is truly the simple 3 step process for fantastic looking photos. It has quickly become my favorite pack that I own. I most cases, I havent had to make any tweaks which has greatly reduced editing time. Highly recommended, Buy it, you will not be dispappointed.

I've always loved the Mastin presets but Natura 1600 is killer! With a click of the preset and a few slider adjustments in Capture 1, my images are looking just how I love them in seconds. The p3200 is my go to for Black and White now as well.

These presets are wonderful for adding a filmic depth to the shots where I am working at dance events.

The Night & Day Pack is probably the most versatile pack yet. I own every single pack, but between this pack and the Ilford Pack, it pretty much checked every single box.

They continue to impress. Not only their film emulation quality, but also the ease they make during editing. And a wonderful, supportive community to boot. Unreservedly recommend. 🤗

I own all of the Mastin preset packs. This one is quite interesting. It adds a really nice touch to skin tone and makes darker low contrast photos pop off the screen.
My biggest problem? Which preset to use!!

Natura is so good I’m about to declare it my new go-to for almost everything color. I like Cinestill too, but don’t yet know how useful it will be for me. That said, Natura 1600 is more than worth the price of admission, plus the bonus B+W! No brainer!

It's finally here and I can't wait to editing everything again. I came for CineStill, but Natura is the sleeper in this pack.
